Some suggestions or thoughts on what i'm planning?

hey guys. i drive a 97 max gle with BOSE. i just threw in some 12 inch jlw1s in a sealed box throwing 150 rms at them, tapping off my rear speakers. well the subs overpower my interiors and it doesn't sound that great..bass is nice though.

here what i am planning:
Headunit: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14277
i really like how clean it is. not loads of silly crap. Also allows me to add a screen later if i want which is nice. and it plays mp3s which is what i want the most.
fronts: http://bostonacoustics.com/ca_produc...&CategoryID=14
my buddy has these and i love them...next step up is way to much money for me...any other suggestions for this price range?
rears:
http://bostonacoustics.com/ca_produc...&CategoryID=14
however my buddy says that rears really don't matter much as the driver really can't hear them much at all. so he said go with these:
http://bostonacoustics.com/ca_produc...&CategoryID=14

now what do i power them with?
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAu...roductID=14326
that puppy is expensive but i already have a fosgate amp on the subs so i wouldn't mind keeping it all the same.

well what do you guys think?

1) Damn...W1, old school...I had 2 15W1s as one of my first systems, good stuff
2)I wouldnt get a Boss deck if I were you. You are asking for problems. Save up and get something like a Pioneer DVH-P5000mp or similar.
3)You cant go wrong with Boston Acoustics, but you should definitely put an amp on them
4)Rockford isnt bad, but for that price, I could practically put together an entire setup.

Check around local shops, listen and see what you like, and go from there. But overall, the only bad thing about what you just listed is that Boss deck

Good luck
Kevin

I have an Eclipse CD3424...not flashy at all, looks great and a hell of a headunit.

Well it all depends how much you want to spend, I would just never pay that much for a Rockford amp. You can get Arc or Zapco for that much.

x2. Look into the previous model 4 channel Fosgate amps. They put out a lot of power and are less expensive.

Hey Bud glad to see your parting ways w/Bose because Bose is the worst. Alpine is the best for your money for head units very solid. But for speakers Boston's are nice but cost to much, look into Infinity Kappa speakers sound really good for lower price.
Make sure to use 4channel amp I'm using Audiobahn 75watts x/4 and man it sounds good. Punch amps are really good for subs because they push hard but for your fronts/rears use a amp w/cleaner sound like JL Audio, Alpine, Audiobahn, ADS, you get the point, you don't have to push them to hard like you would w/subs. .

Im guessing the Alpine comment is Your opinion correct?

a 4 channel amp isnt needed, just typically perferred IF doing speakers all around.

Please dont put A/D/S and Audiobahn in the same category. They are worlds apart.

i think for the cleanest sound , you will need to go with alpine/eclipse/pioneer as the headunit! it all starts from here! so it's up to you on how you want your system to sound, strictly db drag bass or sound quality, - if sq is your game definitley stick w/ the boston acoustics for the interior and maybe a polk/momo sub or two for your trunk - you won't be disappointed as long as you run the right amps to them, but that all depends on what brand/style you like. for strictly db you may want to choose zapco 4kw or earthquake D2 with a set of mmats juggernauts or some treo's. but that's if you want to have your car rattle like a mo'fo! good luck

i like my subs. i throw 150 rms to each. they thump fine...not the best but good enough atm. i think i may go with an eclipse head unit...clean enough, lots of features, not silly and all gaudy looking....

don if you can offer me an amp to power the interiors i'm thinking of buying, i'd be very interested. if you have suggestions on what to better compliment the subwoofers in regardes to interiors i am also interested. At the moment the subs overpower the interiors...

i was thinking of this...
front speakers: 300 or less
rear speakers: 200 or less i hear they don't do much when your in the front...
amp: i don't care how much. i'm hoping to find one that will do 75rmsx4. that should power the BA interiors fine, or if i go with other interiors...
soo...lets say.....
no more then 500 for interior speakers
around 300 for the amp.
i think i'll be picking up the HU on my own. maybe get a used one.
so i guess i'd like to spend between 600-800 on new interiors speakers and an amp to power them.

I'd talk with Don, he's the man, a year ago when I was lookin for speakers he hooked me up with some DA HEX Comp.

That car is gone now however ...college ruins everything!!!

Don, I got a new car now, and in a couple of weeks will have the Alpinine TME-M770 touchscreen and the CDA-9835 Deck...you don't deal with Alpine at all do you?

Congrats on a new car !

Yea I deal with Alpine, but try not to. As bang for the buck its not the best out there. Eclipse passes them by easily.

Torgus: shoot me a PM/email Im sure I can do something.

Not yet, but for the amount of that combo you might be better off with an AVN or AVX double din unit.
