Hey..I just ordered subs and a head unit...Subs are 2 12" Alpine type R's (4 ohm model)...and the HU is an Alpine CDA-9833...I alrdy have a JBL 1200.1 amp that will power the subs...it is 600 watts rms at 4 ohms so it should be perfect....this is all goin in my 2003 SE non bose...let me know what you guys think...paid 500 for everything and my friend is gonna help me do the install (he owns his own mobile audio store so he knows what he is doin)...soo pretty much got all this for 500 bucks....thanks

 

Well I mean that sounds great for rattling the trunk but what about the interior speakers those stock? Cuz if you haven't upgraded the interior speakers you will only hear bass if it is anything like my car where I just have a measly infinity reference 12 with only like 250 watts into it. You going for a ported or sealed enclosure for those Type Rs.

btw how do you like the alpine hu I have the 9815 and my only real complaint is that it doesnt do the cool Ipod feature.

 

Sounds like you got a good setup without burning a hole in your wallet.

 

+1 pretty nice setup but if you havent upgraded the mids/highs, definitely do that, theyre gonna be hurtin compared to those type r's.

Ok so i took your advice and ordered some speakers...geez guys didnt wanna have to spend more hahaha... SOOO my new setup...Alpine 9833 HU....2 12" Alpine Type r's....4 6.5" Alpine type s speakers (SPS-170A)...all this ran me about 650 bucks....if i bought it from a store it would have run me 1200+...so i think im happy with the price...let me know what you think now...thnaks
