2002 Maxima factory speaker specs

I've got a 2002 SE (without the Bose system) and was wondering if anyone knew what the factory specs (power handling, etc.) were on the speakers?

I believe it's 6.5's and tweeters in the front and 6.5's in the back if I'm not mistaken.

Considering upgrading to aftermarket speakers (possibly Infinity or Alpine components) for the front and was wondering if they would make a noticeable difference. Not looking to break the bank.

Alpine specs:

6-1/2" Speakers (SPS171A)

APN SPS171A
• 6-1/2"speakers
• Component system

• 250 watts peak power
• 35Hz-30kHz

Infinity specs:

• 6 1/2" speakers
• 2-way design

• 270 watts peak power
• 53Hz - 21kHz

thanks in advance.

the stock speaker handles 40 watts each and I upgraded all 4 main speakers w/ the infinity speakers similar to the one u described...good improvement.

6.5 will fit both the front and rear. You may have to buy/make the spacers, though. I have Infinity Reference coax for the rear and Eclipse components in front. Still running the OEM tweeter and crossover, cause I haven't had time to install the Eclipse part yet. Currently running the OEM head unit, too. Infinity rears sound just OK but the Eclipse need a lot more power. 5 channel US Amps power amp and sub will be installed soon.

Check in the audio forum. You'll get a lot of help there.

I would recommend going with a 4-channel amp (with x-overs) and sub as your first stereo upgrade. You can always build on that set up. Run your factory separates and rear speakers off channel 1 & 2. Then bridge the amp to run your subs. Your front speakers are not half bad, but definitely lacking in power. With the added amplification, not the mention the subs, you'll gain better mids and highs, and the low end that you never had. Then in the future, you can use that 4 channel amp for just the mids and highs, and buy a dedicated subwoofer amp. Cheap and very noticeable differences all around!
