Compatability of Bose Headunits between 95-99 model years?

Just like the title says, I want to know if all Bose headunits are swapable between different model years.

Example. I have a 99 Maxima SE and the Bose headunit doesn't work properly (previous owner was a smoker and I think that's what killed it). I like the 97/98 Bose headunit much better. Can I buy one and install it? Are the plugs the same? I sure hope it's plug and play.

PLease, no speculating. Only state FACTS.

Thanks in advance,

James

i have a 97 SE with the bose head unit. My head unit, about 2 weeks ago, stopped working. The radio works, but CD player ALWAYS has CD ERR error. The car has 70k miles and no one has smoked in the car. I have read that it is a common problem among these headunits. Before you go and get another maxima bose head unit, look around cuz right now im stuck with a non working stock head unit
