amp protect mode

so, my remote wire is busted. some people on the forum told me the remote wire puts out 12v. so idea popped in my head.... from the battery lead, put another wire the size of the remote looped directly from the power wire on the amp to the position of the remote wire. this way it gets the power signal. i did this, and the amp worked for like 10sec. then it went into protect mode. my question is....y protect mode? wats the purpose of protect mode? y is it goin into protect mode? i know im ghetto-riggin this amp, but i dont care... i need sounds.

Wire your remote to the ignition wire at the back of your radio, the red wire. I dont know why your amp is going into protect mode, but the way you wired it, the amp stays on 24/7. This way it will only be on with the car.

i have no idea where the remote wire has gone wrong... its soldered into the right wire at the HU, so either the HU is not putting out the voltage or the problem lies at another spot along the line. i know the amp will stay on if i dont go physically pull it out every time i turn the car off... but the question still stands: why does the amp go into protect mode? i'll do what kpr said, but the amp does this(protect mode) every now and then.
