phatone--you need a bigger alt. 2k is a lot.
SQ cars are judged while the car is not running But you are correct, no one uses caps!

Capasitor help
Ok here is the deal im going to buy the kenwood Kac-7201 amp i had it before and it never gave me a problem i will run it bridged to give me 460 RMS
i will be using it on the Kicker Solo-Baric VS10L5-4. It will be wired up using 8 awg wire. I just got a new altinator and batt about a year ago. My question is am i going to need a cap i just have one amp running one sub. I used to think no matter what amp you have you will always need a cap but now im reading diffrent things. Now i drive a 91 mercury tracer Im not trying to blow the window and doors off of my car i just want a really nice base that i will be happy with maybe even being heard up the block with out having to worry that im going to need a new altinator or Batt every other week. Please be honest thanks :

Ok to day i was talking to someone at circuitecity now the amp that im going to get is 460 RMS 800 watt peak and the sub is rated at 550 RMS would this be a big loss and will the missing 90 RMS do any damage to the sub
