will amp kill battery?

I have my amp wired kinda ghetto, where i have to physically flip a switch to turn amp on/off. a couple times i forgot to hit the off switch before leaving the car for the night-like 8-9 hrs. i was sure the amp would have drained the battery, but it didnt. i did this 3x in the last week. since im not in the car and the car is off, there is no bass being produced/ the subs aren't pumping. so will having the amp constantly on drain my battery?

Eventually for long periods of time, yes it will. Theres not gonna be any sound if the car is off because you have no source turned on. The amp will still be on and will draw minimal current.

It probably won't. It really depends on who made the amp. I have an amp in which its spec sheet says it draws 500 milliamps when idle (no input signal). It most likely will depend on how many goofy lights and neons it has on it.

just wondering why you have it wired that way. Never heard anyone doing that before.

Thats why I had said for long periods of time. H3ll even a domelight would kill it eventually.

this is a fosgate amp im using. im borrowing it off my friend.
Brinkly- im doing this b/c im lazy as hell. i have a problem in my remote wire somewhere. either the HU isnt putting out the voltage or i cut/screwed the wire as i was putting the panels back on. either way, i would have to remove dash and resolder wires and mess around with it, and i dont have time b/t college and work and work#2. when i get free time, which is never, i'll go back and do the job right. but i need the bass now. it sux having 2-12''s in the trunk and not working

Is the switch wired into your hu? or just to the amps? I've got a switch wired into my hu and sometimes I forget to turn it off but it has never drained my battery. BRINKLEY in regards to your question I have the switch because I would have to push a bunch of buttons while driving to turn the subs off so its easier also it helps if you're talking to someone or get a phone call and its kinda a neat feature
