everyone obviously has biased opinions on things but i have to agree with alpine being good, but overpriced for what you get. eclipse i think has tbe best build quality/ important features for sq, but imo im not a fan of most of the looks (speaking in terms of strictly h/u's). this is where pioneer comes in; not as good as eclipse for sq, but has the bling bling and ease of use that i like.

I agree cosmetically Eclipse isnt the most pleasing, but neither is the Nak decks or the Denons, Im sure ya wouldnt turn em down though right? Its all about Function over Form Junior

^^^ nice! but is your whole name exactly the same?

- if my dad knew i had a tv in my car he'd flip. thankfully i went with a flip out tv so he cant see it. he was in my car over SB and was like did you get a new radio, what brand is it? im like oh basic pioneer...even though it says DVD on the front. my dads cool as hell thought about audio, he puts cd changers and new speakers in all his cars. only old school people still use cd changers though.

I agree with you that Alpine is good, but not where they use to be. I have run their stuff for many years, this is why I think I was pretty fair/unbiased in my comparison between my Alpine HU and Eclipse HU. I actually have an Alpine in my other car.

By the way, the more I listen to the 8454 the more and more I am beggining to like the way it looks .

Yes, the whole name is exactly the same , even my sons.

I guess up until Friday I was old school . I was actually thinking of getting the Eclipse CD changer , and pluggin it in with the digital connection. I like the idea of having CD's that are not MP3's ready to go, instead of having to change them out every time. Besides with the Eclipse model I have 8 to choose from instead of the 6 that I had with the Alpine CHA-S624.

Had to go there with the F1 right? Try comparing it to a 8053,8454,8455...theyre all still compararable at about a QUARTER of the price of the F1

Don is absolutely correct. The F1 system is TERRIBLY overpriced.

2 Da Max I use to say Alpine all the way for HU's but after my last two, the 7998 and 7894 I went looking elsewhere. I've had their stuff since the early 90's too. I think Tony is right, their F1 stuff is way over priced.

Oh and don't hurt yourself .

I didnt wanna be the one to post that...Also let it be known...Alpines "4Volt" HUs were proven to not even provide that.

I was glancing through an Australian audio forum and this was something that was being discussed. They were dicussing how the subwoofer output of the 7998 could only make about 1.8 volts. This kind of stuff is not cool at all.

Not one that I can remember as this was several months back. I did a search under problems with 7998 or something along those lines, and one of the links was that audio forum.

I had a typo in my manual that stated it was 5v, but the correction sheet said 4v, but I guess that was wrong as well.

what a shame....you got to pay top dollar (9855/F1)for a decent(at best) 4v Alpine deck

lol member i told you guys about my boy with the acura legend who wanted a system like mine all alpine. i told him lets go the eclipse way, so i told my dealer how about everything eclipse? she told me personally alpine is better and sounds better. She told me the reason my system may not sound as good as an eclipse one is because a technician hasnt tuned my system and its not wired properly. i mean i could understand the wiring part with the rca preoutputs but wtf? how do eclipse subs and amps compare to alpines?

Buahahahahahahaha funniest thing I heard today. That should be on my "365 stupidest things said" calender for today. Sound to me like the have a higher quota to make with Alpine than Eclipse.

How does a '79 pinto compared to an '04 Maxima?
