Terrible FM reception in 2k.

I get terrible FM reception in my 2k. The obvious thing to do would be to check the external antenna however there is not one on the car. I have not modified the car's audio at all and checked the owner's manual and it talked about the antenna actuallly being in the back window? Could this be damaged, and if so, how can I get it working so there is no more static when using the radio?

the antenna is in the back window and it is powered by an amplifier that amplifies the reception but in reality it sux - not sure on how it works, but the part is located on the passenger rear pillar right between the rear window and passenger rear door small window - good luck - i got so sick of it i just decided to get xm radio with its own antenna!
