I Need Help!!!!

i need help...i was installing my amp, after i tightened the negative and positive power cable to my cap i dropped the wrench and it fell onto the cap and it touched both the positive and negative terminals and *FLASH* sparks flying and now my amp doesnt work, it powers on but no sound

is there a power protect on the amp? i used to see sparks all the time on my amp and cap, its nothing really. once it lights up the normal color it should be good. was there sound comming out of it before?

This does you no good now, but always disconnect the neg. terminal of the battery when working on dat shiet.

the green led light is on, the red led protect light never went on...i bought it second hand and when i got it the guy showed me and it was working

what brand amp do you have? there is a possibility you shorted it out, check your fuses, no wait it turns on right, check your sub

its a kicker 600.1, i hooked up my old junk amp and it works

oo no not the kicker, this also happened to someone previously on the org with that same amp, kicker amps are suppose to be good though

ya something like that happened to me. I had the kicker 600.1 with 2 12" kicker comp vr's. some how they were wired in and ohms were too low and i had no idea. It worked fine for months..almost a year i think then 1 day *poof* smoke everywhere and it shorted out. Then i blew a fosgate with 500 rms the next day because i had no idea it was the subs. worst 2 days ever. but anytime u see sparks its no good. check the fuses in the amp. if you saw any smoke at all from the amp..say good night.

on your amp though - fuses (internal and external) and power protect. some even have a breaker to reset.

fuses are good amp didnt smoke, just sparks from the cap, im not able to check internally, wut did u do wid ur amp?? im thinkin of sending it in to get it repaired...

try bypassing the cap and use a direct wire for the amp.

use a meter on the speaker terminals to see if ure getting anything

my subs were wired in at a too low of an ohm state and the amp coujld'nt handle it and it smoked...alot
