Help on Deciding!!

So I got a good price on the RF PL1212 subs with the box and everything, do you guys think it will sound good? I don't want something that will blow the windows, but also want something that if you drive next to someone they will notice it.

I heard from some people that they nice pretty good. I want to know your opinions.

Go for the PL2-212 instead. P2 woofers make all the difference.

Yeah the woofer can make a world of difference, but if you really want to rattle some noise you will have to have the box tuned to a specific frequency.

Then I need to get a better amp for it, I can't spent that much on it, but it's not only just one P1 it's two P1's with a special box from RF that costs about 100 bucks for just the box. And it is made for it, so no other box can do better.

Not true about the box...A custom box from a stereo shop, or finding someone that knows how to build a box ...will sound 100X better than a pre-fab box IMO.

The Punch Loaded enclosures aren't just your everyday off the shelf prefab. They are specifically designed by Q-logic to meet the TS perimeters for those woofers. Sure a stereo shop can design an enclosure to do the same thing, but most shops now days, the installers are too retarded to figure it out. Let's see, it's a 12 so it must take 1.5 cu.ft. tuned at 35 Hz. There's a little more to it than that and your average installer is just looking to make a quick turn to get'em in and get'em out. Don't really care that they may be MECP certified. Learn to understand the real specs of the driver before coming with with a half-assed enclosure. I see it day in and day out.

VRS818...If u have a 4thGEN max, be sure to measure the height of ur opening very carefully. There isn't much clearance from the floor to the torsion bars in the trunk. I think its only like 14 1/2". If the pre-fab RF box is made out of 3/4" MDF (which i hope it is atleast that) then u may not be able to get it under the torsion bars. Not trying to knock the pre-fab box 03SE2HEAR. Just giving him an idea on some things to lookout for. I paid $400 for my custom box....opposed to $165 for a pre-fab. And was EXTREMLY happy with the way it turned out, and the pre-fab box that i tested my sub out in was made specifically for my sub. Just tryin to give hopefully some helpful advice here...not trying to change ur mind.

BustaReims...smart guy, smart guy...any pre-fab enclosure u buy, even if its made specifically for ur subs, will sound good, but not as good as something that is custom made by a box builder. I don't know how ur stereo shops are where ur from 03SE2HEAR, but all the shops i have ever dealt with have one or two ppl that do nothing but build custom enclosures. I personally install everything myself, and have been doing it for years, but would never trust myself or a pre-fab company to build my boxes.

Mine is a 2001 I30, so I don't think I need to measure it.
