Alpine tuner: antenna problem?
Alpine tuner: antenna problem?
Hey guys,
Anybody with an Alpine stereos have a problem where the tuner (FM/AM) works like CRAP? I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with my stereo, and I've tried replacing the antenna adapter already. The antenna worked great, or at least I had great reception, with the stock (non-Blose) radio in the car. But with the Alpine, I get NOTHING. And no, it's not because I have it in Local Seek mode. I don't know what could be the culprit here, but if anybody else has had this problem, let me know.
Thanks.

Yeah, as stated above, it was working very well with the stock radio.
I get very poor reception, but I do get some. My dad and I were out there testing some things. We realized that if I had the antenna unplugged, the stereo would not turn on. So the stereo was being grounded through the antenna. So we moved the ground from the harness (where it was getting a bad ground) to a bolt back there and now the stereo would turn on without the antenna plugged in. BUT, when we plugged the antenna in, there was still the same reception. If I unplugged the antenna, it got even worse.
The way it is now, I can get a station that is about 5 miles away to come in very clearly, but I basically get no other stations. I should be getting a lot of 'em. I think we're going to try an AM/FM signal booster from radio shack or something, see what that does. Otherwise, no radio for me.
Thanks guys.
