MSRP for new Eclipse HUs?

Ugh, as much as I hate to do this, I am likley going to get one of the new Eclipse HUs. They are ugly as sin, but I don't really trust the SQ that the Alpine 9855 is going to produce vs. the Eclipse. Anyone know what they are going for?

Yeah, I hear ya. I was looking at the Pioneer Premiers, which looked awesome, but no Sirius. That's why I am going to have to get an '05 Eclipse.

That is why I bought a 8454 a week and a half ago. I wasn't too happy with the new looks. I saw a couple of them at the Good Guys on Sunday, those things sure weren't pretty. They were not the top models (8445/8455), so hopefully the top ones will look a little better.

Either way, I think that your choice is the correct one. I am a recent "convert" from Alpine, and could not be happier with my new cd player.

I believe that the suggested prices are $650 and $550, but I am not 100% positive.

Check again on those Pioneers - I was just on their website and some of the new ones are "sat radio ready" and work with XM and Sirius.

Ok, pal...

So what make Alpine so bad if you're the one that knows so much about electronics?

The $650 and $550 prices are correct. The 8V line doesnt look as bad as the lower models. I actually just got in the 8455s and theyll be a bit of a wait on the 8445 yet.

Dan, why ya looking for MSRP when your local to me?

BTW..yes Pioneer is capable of both XM and Sirius.

Don is right about the looks of the top units, they are not as bad. My friend and I went to look for an 8454 for him at the Good Guys, they also had the 8455 and the 8445. He was thinking Alpine at first, but not anymore . He knows how my previous Alpine HU sounds, as well as how my new 8454. Now he is sold on Eclipse. He is now deciding on either the 8454 or the 8445. I think he is leaning more towards the 8445. The new untis are kind of flashy, but they are nice HU's with great features. I personally like the more toned down look of my unit though.
