Opinions on speakers and amps :)

Just wanted to get peoples opinions

Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's? A friend was really selling me on them. I was thinking about looking into some Rainbows (was prevously thinking Focal) but wanted to get some opinions. I was thinking about them 2 years ago aswell.

Infinity Reference Amps, the new series. Apparently they meet the new ISO standards (I think thats what it was, I dont really completely remember). What would you compare them against?

Also apparently MTX is going to be producing some new speakers/components and seem to be getting good reviews. I'm kind of skeptical, what do you guys think?

I'm thinking about getting the 'new' Infinity stuff, I get it at cost from work

Infinity is/has been just a mainstream brand. Theres tons better out there quality wise, but if you like the sound of them and the price is right for you then go for it.

Just be prepared of the eggshell cone cracking a bit...

I havent dealt with the amps, so I cant honestly comment on them. Although with the Infinity name as I said Mainstream (not great/not bad) I wouldnt expect the world, but they may suit your needs.

Definately the best choice is to go around and listen. Try Rainbow,Arc,Alumapro,Focal,Diamond,etc.. Part of the reason I stick with these companies is because their dealer support has been great to me over the years and theyre not found on every corner.

Ive installed plenty of Infinity amps at work, I cant ever remember having a problem with them or having something to complain about related to them. Theyre a good entry level mainstream amp. Obviously it all depends on your budget and taste because they wont compete with what Don sells but they get the job done, especially for people who shop at circuit city.

Where do you work (obv I work at circuit city), and we will also be getting awesome discounts on kicker/mtx in the coming months, and we already get awesome discounts on polk/infinity.

The Infinity amps are HUGE and so underrated it's disgusting. You will sincerley regret getting this amp should you choose to do so. Same with the speakers. Get a nice set of CDT coaxes nad keep an eye out for a decent used amp by Orion, ppi...etc.

Try the classified @ caraudio.com Great deals there!

I haven't dealt too much with intalling the Perfects, just the Reference & Kappa series. Sold a boatload of Perfect components, but never had them come back. Personally I like the Reference....just me though. I know the older Infinity amps were OK, haven't heard much on the newer ones. Get the Focal and MTX thoughts out of your head.

I have yet to order any in. I rarely even sell the speakers. Speaker wise, theyre a great product. I imagine the amps couldnt really be 'bad'.

yeah, i love how my bostons sound, but their amp seem a tad pricey. their cheapest 2 channel amp is $300. seems like that money can be spent elsewhere.

Hey you CC haters (don and rich lol)......we dont carry kappas or kappa perfects in the store either, yet I can order pairs of Perfect 6.5 components and have em shipped to me for $175, when their original retail was like 500ish. Same goes for Polk, we dont carry Momo in the store anymore but my discount on that stuff is amazing.

So as far as kicker and mtx go in the coming months, it all depends on how their employee accomodation program is set up. If its awesome, you all might be seeing SX amps in my car sometime in the future, im keeping my fingers crossed.

The SXRC, controlling all your amps settings from the little display you can mount anywhere. Thats all I know of, Don will hafta chime in for the rest.

[insert some cool stuff Don says, then Rich asking me to get him amps in a month so he can get some real power to the ava lol ]
