that's why you ask to give the equipment a listen before deciding to buy them used. if they refused to audition them for you, forget about the seller and move on.

hmm if 2 sony xplod subs can be heard from 2 blocks, can a brahma and an avalanche be heard from miles away????? anyway, used is risky but alot cheaper but usually no warranty comes with the stuff unless 2 da max sells it to you.

I'll do my usual advertising here...

The Memphis 500 D (which I have) is around $430. You can talk the dealers down though. And they perfom just as well as JL's stuff.

Unfortuantly... or maybe fortunaly they do not do online sales. But you can go here to find the closest dealer. As well as look through some of their stuff.

Getting the MC1100D . But I have to wait till I get back home. I'm getting all the work done at once. It'll be June before it ever gets installed. I don't know how long it'll take the shop.

I have to do some prep work. What all it entitles I can't say at this time. It's a little secret on the box I'm having made. And they're also installing dynamat and a car alarm. So I'll be without my truck for awhile... but hey, that's why I have the Max.

woofer size could be offset, to a point, by huge excursion from a smaller driver

ehh, power handling is enclosure dependant. 500 should be plenty.

yeah some of those people have some sick setups. mine is loud, but i don't think it's loud enough for you since you want to literally feel it outside the car from a few feet away.

i just skimmed through parts of this thread

if your looking to go cheap def. go ebay, pay attention to what you buy, wattage isnt that big of a deal if you install things right, i've had brahmas, a lot of diferent rockford set ups, kicker comps and even volfenhags...its all how you plan it out, i dont care what anyone says about rockford but after finishing my newest and last set up i was amazed and the sq and high volumes of all the components but it cost me a lot and i did it myself.

im curently planning out a cheap set up for my beater, 91 blazer...i want it as cheap as posible
im building a vented box for 2 15's, will cost about 30 bucks, go vented if your looking to stay cheap but loud, picking up either 2 kicker comp vr 15's or going for volfenhag 15's for $130 a pair off ebay, as horible of a company as volfenhag is i do have to admit they pound pretty good for what they are, and then just pick up a pioneer with sub control for around 150.
and almost any cheap amp will work for what your trying to accomplish, ma audio has some lower priced ones that do the job, just remember if the amp you buy puts out all its power at 4ohms then your gonna want subs that you can wire at 4ohms or whatever impedence you need them to.

i dunno long but i hope it helped research b4 you buy and you'll be fine

I think the best way is to search the classifieds on here. I did that and I just picked up 3 JL 10w3's for $150 in a box. I hooked em up to my Rockford P2002 and they shake my whole car. I can feel it outside and my **** rattles pretty good. I need to dynamat my trunk now. All of it cost me under $400 and it is better then I thought it would be.

i see thanks guys..well i narrowed it down to either one 12 or one 15" thats kinda broad but that's all i know for now..if i go with a 12" it will be the brahma..and if i decide on a 15" then maybe the re xxx or ava15 or the alpine type r 15"

thats all for now i guess..until i get some money and do more research

I have one 15" stage 3 punch in a ported box in my max. I built the box according to the diagrams in the subwoofer manual. It was the first box I built so I got some help here on the org from a guy named RobertJ who really knows what he is doing. Anyway its powered by an old punch amp that pushes 400 watts rms x 1 (that rating is at 12.6volts ). It gets real loud and sounds good IMO. The only problem is that I listen to mainly rock and metal and my sub setup sounds best with rap music. If you listen to music with alot of low-end then one 15" would work fine. If I could do it over again though I would have went with two tens in a sealed box because of my music tastes so keep that in mind.

i tried doing a system for under 1 G last year.

Tell you what, do not go cheap on the sound department, this is from firsthand experience.

I have a MTX 801D amp and 15" l5 solobaric, and tell you what it pushes pretty hard, but the pathetic bose speakers cannot keep up to it, thus giving me way too much bass for a $hitty bose system.

Just do some research and try to replace the whole bose system.

I'm spending over 3G to get my system installed, trashing the whole bose system and dampening my trunk.
