??? 1 ohm ??? Which amp??

I have 2 12inch Jl Audio W4D4, each sub is 200 continues watts at 4 ohms. According do a jl diagram, my coiles and speakers are both wired in parallel, so together they form a 1 ohm load. I cannot find any amps that are a 1 ohm, even the jl 500 mono only goes down to 1.5 ohms. Should i just find a mono amp that pushes out around 400 rms x 1 at 2 ohms? If change the wireing in my box and wire the coiles in series and the speakers in parallel then i will be at 4 ohms, and it looks like i will have alot more selection for a amp at 4 ohms. I am a newbie but this is how my subs are wired, wut do u think?

pm Pearl96Max and have him set you up with a diamond audio amp, theyre amazing and stable at 1 ohm. There are plenty out there, just gotta look around. Id def want to find a 1 ohm amp, because getting a lot of power out of an amp at 4 ohms is harder to do.

yes they are pretty old but in great condition. discontinued by JL a few years ago. If i wanted to get a 2 ohm amp instead, shoud i overshoot the watts and find one thats like 500 continues?

At my local circuit city they have a bazooka 2 channel bridgeable amp that pushes out 500 watts of rms at 2 ohms. Im sure this is known as a "****ty amp", and it maybe only 100-150 bucks, but i mean as long as i get the warrenty i should be alright. I mean i know its not a top of the line name but as long as its got the numbers it should pound right?

I don't know what kind of power you're looking to acheive, but there's nothing wrong with wiring them 4 ohms and getting a decent amp to drive them. You could also go with a 2-channel amp (as opposed to a mono) and driving them with dual 2-ohm stereo channels. Or yes, you could find a 1-ohm stable amp. If it wre me, I'd get a powerful 2-channel amp just for sheer flexibility so you could feasibly use it elsewhere down the road...then I'd try running the subs with both my above suggestions and see which you like better.

Just get a 2-channel amp and run it in 2-ohm stereo, one channel per sub. There are tons of amps that will do this.

Not to mention just about every two channel amp I've seen can run at 4 ohms mono. A two channel amp running it at stereo or mono would do the trick.

My vote is the Diamond Audio D6 600.1. None of the other amps mentioned have a LIFETIME warranty. I like the thought of never having to buy another bass amp. I have the D6 1500.1 and love it. This amp would be overkill for your setup though. Def call Don and ask about the D6 600.1.

If I remember right, the MC1000 D is only $740. And runs 1100 watts at 1 ohm. Or their PR series has an amp as well.

Or you can take out 2 birds with one stone. Their Memphis Belle 600 is a 5 channel. 400 watt at 1 ohm for the sub. and you'll get around 55 watts for your interior speakers.

Most of the Class D Mono Sub amps r 1 ohm stable. I know for a fact all Rockford Fosgate Power Series amps r 1 ohm stable.

I run an ED 12A @ 1ohm with a JBL BP1200.1. The thing pounds and doesn't break a sweat. The amp only gets a little warm to the touch!

I used to have a HiFonics 1000D which is supposed to be 1ohm stable but it burned out after 2 weeks of moderate use. Don't skimp on the amp at 1ohm.

I am running an Orion 225 HCCA at 1/2 ohm and she just gets a little warm, but not too bad.
