Satellite Radio??
Kinda depends on what kind of head unit you have, but in general: Itll have a tuner box that you mount wherever. You mount the antenna (magnetically) on the trunk lid or roof and run the wire through the trunk to the tuner box the way you would any other wire. Give the tuner box power and ground, and run its DIN cable to the radio, and your done. Should be a pretty similar install for whicher unit you have, its up to you and your confidence whether you want to attempt it.

alright thanks for the info guys when i get a little more cash im gunna give this a try... anyone have an opinion on which set up to go with sirius or xm is there a dif in sound quality or anything that i should know about?
depends what you're looking for..
prices are the same as of right now, but there are rumors sirius's price will go up a few bucks when stern's contract goes into effect. Personally, I like the music programming on sirius a little better than xm, but I have xm for o&a and don't care about stern, so sirius will be getting the boot unfortunately.
either way, they're both light years ahead of regular radio..

Go to the enthusiast sites for both radio services and check out what is playing. I like the deeper play lists on XM. I've also seen comments that XM plays B-sides and rejects. Just take the time to research each service and you won't be disappointed.

im thinking of gettin sat rad too. what the best place to mount the antenna? does it need to be external, or can it just be on the rear deck behind the backl seat and still get a signal throught the window?
i have a friend with a max he used to be on here i dont know if he is anymore but i was talking with him a few weeks ago and he has his had his antenna mounted both on the roof and on the rear deck where the 3rd brake light would be and he said that there was no dif at all in signal quality... when i get it im def going to mount in on the rear deck i think it looks gross on the roof
I just purchased a car with XM installed in it. Was done over 3 years ago and the controller is an old Pioneer unit that broadcasts FM to my standard Bose deck. It is mounted in the sunglass holder near rear view mirror. I am not really happy with the Sound Quality and am wondering if anyone has a direct cable install? I will be able to do that with a new deck I am installing since it has aux. in. Maybe there is a problem with the current install. What kind of quality is everyone else getting?
I notice that the XM is quite a bit worse in quality than just standard radion stations with a very hollow sound and the upper freq. cut off. Anyone else experience this problem?
Didn't mean to hijack the thread but I figured this would be relevant...

... which will allow you to hookup the XM directly to the input of your stock system and get CD quality from the sat. radio.
