I don't think that will be enough juice for them. I would buzz around on eBay and try to score a Monitor 1 amp...they aren't too pricey and some damn fine amps for the money.

As far as the subs go, really look into building a super-nice ported box for the subs...you can significantly increase their ouput by building a nice box. The box is almost as important as the type of sub you are running, if not moreso.

I'm looking at the Alpine Type E's also. I'm thinking of getting 2 and putting them in the same box. I'm going to power then with a 700Watt Alpine mono amplifier, bridged at 4 ohms. That will give me 200 watts per sub. I believe that's what it is. I heard this set-up at BestBuy and it sounded good enough for me. Nice, inexpensive system but still gives the boom boom. You can find Alpine subs and amps on eBay real cheap.

I understand that. How would you picture 2 Apline E's in the trunk of a 96 max sounding? I don't want to get anything that will sound crappy. And I don't need A LOT of bass either.

haha yea well maybe around $500..i got a pretty nice headunit right now..its got like 200 watts and stock speakers..already i can hear the bass..but not the thump you get from subs...so i want something relatively small but at the same time loud..maybe one nice 12"? not too big of a box..but still pound good..i know you guys arent fan of the alpine stuff but ebay has all those subs for real cheap..maybe one type r? and a 400 watt amp..will this bump or is it stupid to go this way? im freakin clueless

I had a type e in the truck I had before my maxima and it sounded good. It sounded way better than the MTX sub I had in before that.

hhm i would spend like 400 on a good mono amp and 300 for a excellent spl sub. then just make a box, saves you some money, and its kind of fun.

In my experience Infinity reference subs are equal in price and have better sound quality, if I had to choose between them Infinity would be the way to go.

most of the stuff on ebay is refurbished, thats why there so cheap. basically there blown products cheaply fixed back by small independt companies, they sell it back and the product probably lasts for not too long of a time.

check out a dealer near you bro

I'm also looking at the same setup. I heard it at best buy and it was loud enough for me. The subs are rated at 250 watts RMS each. So you could get more power to them. I'd look for a 500watt @ 2ohms mono class d amp for those subs.

Yea, I think that's the way I'm going. Except a 700Watt @ 4ohms amp.

if you speak of infinity subs i would never go over the rms power. they are known to blow real easy like hookers.
