I decided I'm getting an Atlas 15 subwoofer and a Profile AP1000M amplifier. I will build my own box because I got a box diagram from sunten1, unless you guys have a better idea for a box. It is a ported box, you think that will go good with the Atlas 15? I can't wait to get this stuff.

box dependant..can you explain that a little more...the bigger the box the bigger the chance the sub will blow or opposite?

the larger the box...the easier it is to break the sub mechanically. "overexcursion" can occur easier because the sub has more air to work with.

well don't take it that far. for some sick low end with a loss in spl a big sealed box is very nice. i had 2 10" subs in a very large sealed box and i swear they got a little lower than my 15 does. but my 15 is ALOT louder than the 2 10's.

What's wrong with the Profile amp? Pros and Cons of the Profile and the Phoenix Gold would help.

I just baught a diamond audio M6 (earlyer known as mack daddy), a 1200 watt performance teqnique amp, 4 gage amp kit, seald mdf box, and install. and all for how much? 420!!! My stereo guys are great for giving awsome deals. and this single 12 beats harder, deaper, and fuller than my buddy's two 12' Kicker CVR's. And SQ is equal if not better than my buddys W6. It is the perfect sub to buy IMO.

Not to sound harsh, but the price isnt the greatest of deals. The amp (typically most expensive) is cheap is this case. The M6 sub has been discontinued for several months now which would explain a price drop...they needed to move it. Still a great sub, but now old. The MacDaddys were dropped in '02

if that does not...when he goes there i am sure he will be impressed. I'd have Chad build him a box for the sub he chooses also.

slick's is what? 3.2 cu ft? it's not THAT bad. his box is more long then deep, so it doesn't really take up that much space.

if you want this week ill take closer pix. i mean with a 15 ported 3.5cuft is nothing to be honest. its not true about atlas's needing huge boxes either.

don't overkill on the screws. the glue will be the component holding the box together. the screws are there to hold the pieces in place for the glue to dry.

No hole yet, I'm still waiting for my sub to come. It will get here soon. I spent about 40 on 3/4" MDF. Bought it in 2' by 4' sheets, since I was too lazy to look for bigger sheets.

Ok, thanks for the tip. I just want this is be strong and not crumble to the ground.

Aaron - going to work on this box right now...

quick random tip for making the cutout...if you happen to have a drum pad use that and trace a circle.

Cool, I don't believe I have a drum pad so I'll use a compass. I'll cut it out as soon as I get the sub and find out the diameter hole I need.

3/4" MDF = HEAVY + SUB AND AMP MOUNTED

Do you think I could get away with mounting the amp on the box?

sure just be careful where you put it. 14" is the cutout diameter.

just don't put it on any long boards. the longer the board, more chance of it flexing...and the amp will want to flex with it (bad).

Ok cool, can I mount a piece of MDF on a long board then mount the amp on that? I don't know where I could mount the amp.
