Replacing Headunit from 2001 with 6-disc 03 headunit. Tips?

Ok, I'm pretty sure that the 02/03 HU is backwards compatible with the wires and harnesses on my 2001. Is it plug and play or is some trickery involved? I also have steering controls, will that continue to work? This HU I just picked up is from the 2003.

Should work fine plug and play. If youve never pulled out your head unit before, you are going to think you will break the a/c vents when pulling them out, but the clips are just really hard.

I have a feeling that the steering controls will not work since the harness for 01 is different than 02/03.

Arnold, when you go to swap them out, can you take pics of both units (specifically the back) so we can see the difference(s) if there are any. Thanks.

He got it to work but the CD loading mechanism was broken. Also, the steering controls DID work but they were flipped upside down.

Get rid of that 03 6 disc if you can. There is a tsb on those junky things. Myself and many others have had problems with the 02-03 changer breaking in every way possible.
