components with no 4 channel amp?

since my head unit right now is pushing plenty of power to my 4 way pioneers i was wondering how it would sound if i put a set of components in there without amping the speakers with a 4 channel amp?

has anyone ever tried this before????

They would most likely sound better than the 4 ways, but I feel that many components were designed in mind that they would be properly amped.

if you have a higher end pioneer unit they will be fine but if you set them up right with the eq and such expect basically no bass from the mids. they will sound good but you are missing out if you do not amp them.

I wouldn't spend money on getting comps. unless i planned on putting an amp on them. Your not gonna get much of a difference from the 4-ways u have now. Most comps. handle b/t 75-150w RMS, where coaxs usually handle b/t 40-75 RMS. Not saying they all fall n2 that wattage range, but a good set of comps. definatly needs to be amped, IMO.

I have heard this: i dont totally understand how, but running components of the deck can fry it after a long period of time. ? i ran my components on my alpine for a while and it sounded ok, but when i put my xtant 4 channel on holy ****. what a difference. i guess i vote for amping them. you can get a descent 4 channel online somewhere for 100 to 200 bucks no prob.

i'dont mean to thread jack here but, i'm haveing a hard time finding what i'm looking for. i just bought a 02 maxima se, no bose. i have a system from my old car i want to put in. 1st. question how hard is it to wire components in a 02 maxima if i use the pillar location. i have an option to get a pair of brand new boston acoustic rc620 and nx67's for $200, i have kicker 800.4 amp and two alpine 12"type r's. i just need a little dirrection with the install, i have done about 20 different stereo installs, but never on a maxima. i appreciate, any help any one can offer.

not hard at all. honestly though, i would locate them somewhere closer to the spearker. you arent going to get good sound staging. if you read in any manula on installing components it will say mount the tweeter no further away than 6 inches for best sound quality. i drilled into my door panel and mounted my tweeters there. i did the pillar first but it sounded like crap so i did the door. the stereo is faily easy to install. search a little on the install afew threads back and there are some pics on how to do it. the pillar mounting pics are aroud here somewhere too. you just gotta search. i hope that helps, if you need help wiring your amp or subs pm or email me what ever works. also you are going to want to do the big 3 upgrade. search that and it will tell you what its about if you dont know. our altenators on the max's suck a fat one. later

i had my components unamplified for a while and they sounded great. then i got 2 12" subs and i was forced to amplify them. if i listened to rap or any rock with lots of bass, they would get drowned out. they sound great now though
