Remote start on factory remote?

I thought I heard someone talking about activating their remote start with the factory remote on a 4th gen max, anyone got any info on whether this is actually possible? If so, can anyone provide directions on how it's done?

you can get an aftermarket remote start module and have it installed to your factory remote, but why? after time your OE keyfob loses its range, so soon enough you'll only be able to remote start when ure literally next to the car.

If it starts to lose range then you need to change the battery out or buy a new remote off of eBay for $10.

why go through the hassle of that every couple years when the aftermarket remote loses almost no range throughout the life of it? its just a matter of preference really, not trying to start an argument...

Its not just the battery. Factory remotes have limited range to begin with being that their only purpose is for keyless entry. In which case long range isnt needed. Its also a known fact that all, not just Nissans seem to lose their range more and more over time...

Mostly, it's for two reasons, I don't want two keyfobs, and I don't want aftermarket keyless/alarm/etc. So how do you install an aftermarket keyless start module to your factory remote?

I don't know whether my reply is worth any advice - but, a friend of mine that drives an '01 G20, which uses the same keyfobs as the 5th gen max owners, took his car to Infiniti dealer, and they wired in a remote start system, where that on his stock keyfob, he presses the lock button twice, waits a few seconds, and the car starts up. The thing that shocked me was, he paid $600 (according to him, don't quote me on it) to get the install done. Well it isn't that suprising, he did take it to the dealership...

An aftermarket alarm doesnt mean you will have two keyfobs, the aftermarket remote will replace the factory remote.

But theres two ways to do this, ghetto and correctly. Correctly...look into the DEI Valet 561R. Ghetto...buy 10 SPDT relays and a PAC TR7 module and youll have yourself a ghetto @ss remote start off the factory remote (i highly dont recommend this)

Anyway, your local Circuit City carries Valet now and can install this all for you, I believe for $150 (i work there but cant quite remember)

I don't like installer's touching my car, sorry, Let me get this straight though, the Valet 561R can be run through the exsisting factory remote? So then the factory remote has extra channels on it? How are they activated?
One more question, let's say I decide to go completely aftermarket, do you suggest using the existing alarm wiring and removing the factory module?
