Advice on my system PLEASE!!

Okay, so i'm really confused whether to add improve my audio and sound. I have a 98 max se with teh stock bose system. I was looking into just adding a sub and keeping the stock bose setup (would that be fine). I'm going for crisp sound as oppposed to crazy thump. I was looking into an ALPINE 9847 HU, 12inch JLW3V2, Alpine mono 350W amp. However, this is costing me A LOT OF MONEY with installation, the kits, the XR4 that i have to get to by pass the factory amps, and the price is coming out 800ish (i would be getting the HU, sub and amp off of ebay). I mean, do you guys think it will be a major improvement over the stock bose system or what?

Also, what if just got a new Alpine HU and kept my bose speakers without getting a sub. How would that sound, would i still get the base and nice sound out of my speakers given that I have a better HU? And, what does the XR4 do as far as sound goes and would i still have to get an XR4 if i only got a new HU.

Please, any suggestions/input will be appreciated. Thanks.

JL Audio is completely overpriced. Not what you need. Look into Directed brand amps ... very high quality for not such sticker shock.

Also, look into Infinity's reference line for reasonably priced coaxials and separates.

Listen to anything you're going to buy before you buy it, don't take our word for anything.

Replace your speakers if you're going to replace the h/u...you'll thank yourself later

may i suggest cdt cl61s and cl6xs for your front and rear. They'll run you ~200 for all 4 speakers...good improvement over bose. Then you won't have to worry about buying the xr4.

Let's be clear ... just about ANY speaker would be an improvement over Bose. CDT is a GREAT line and has been for 10 years, but I think he could get away with something even cheaper and be just as happy.

if u get a sub, u will drown out the bose speakers. YOU NEED to upgrade the speakers if u get a new sub. when i got my 2 12" orion subs, i was forced to amplify my infinity kappa perfects because they drowned out the speakers. i cant imagine what they would do to a stock system. i reccommend my set up to everyone cause its friggen awesome and delivers the perfect amount of sound in each range.

Front:
Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 Component System
Any amp that will push 100 Watts to each speaker
An infinity amp will run them with no problem, my friend has those same speakers amplified with a kenwood amp and they kick in the mids and highs!

Rear:
Polk/Momo MMc 650 two way speakers

Trunk: 2 12" Orion C12D2 subwoofers
2 Memphis 500.1 Amplifiers
