Internal amps within the units are pretty small and inferior in quality to external amps. I have a Kenwood and the receiver allows you to turn the internal amp off and apply more power to the pre-outs. When I turn it off, the sound souns so crisp and clean. Also, internal amps make the radio go bad a whole lot quicker.

I guess the "advantage" of them is that you can connect speakers directly to them, without the need of separate amps. In reality though if you're trying to get any kind of sounds that won't apply to you.

All in all though, what you really want is an HU with a high voltage pre-out, at least 4V; it will supply much better power through the RCAs.

I am stil confused. The reason why I am looking to get a radio with a amp built in is because I don't want to have to run all the wire through my car.
Unless someone know of a tutorial that shows me how to hide my wires...
