around 6 this afternoon for the the install of my system. The plans for it are now final. The whole trunk will be re-apholstered(spelling?). Three 10 inch alumapros will be sealed off from the trunk. They will resonate thru a completely rebuilt rear deck and resonate in the cabin only. He wants to create a theme of brushed aluminum(because of my dash kit. So, aluminum will be integrated into the custom sub enclosure, along with plexiglass and mirrors. Focal Utopias 180w will be put in custom kick panel enclosures in the front while the rears will be a/d/s coaxils. He said he is gonna put them on an l-pad so the can be turned off at comps. Three orion HCCA amps and the nakamichi mb-100 w/ a voltage meter mounted below it. He said it should take around two weeks, but ive heard from other customers he lags so it could take longer. I don't care how long it takes him as long as the finished product is good.

It's located in Boulder, CO. I'll ask clay if he'd be willing to do that.

Isn't the enclosure gonna be slightly different for an automatic? I have a manual and I don't know if the driver side enclosure would be the same as on an automatic.

Go to the website kustomkaraudio.com. Clay is very talented and should be able to do that.

Both me and SweetSound have autos.. I think it depends on how far back he places the kickpod? If you can, just ask him whenever you ask him if hes willing to make more than one set..

BTW, I'm in SoCal.. i meant group deal like more than 1 pair of pods needed..

Thanks..

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing, but clay said it could be done. All I can do now is hope he's right.

It'll fit. Here is a picture of a trim ring for a Dyn MW170 that I cut for the speakers I can't yet afford. As you can see it is sitting in front of my kick which holds two 5 1/4ers. IF the kick were not there it could drop back, up and to the left further.

Yes i did. He said he would be willing to do it but he would have to talk to each person interested first. So let me give you the number to his shop. His name is clay and the# is 303-447-3398. Just tell him that you spoke to me Jason and that you have the focal utopia's. I'm sure he'd be more than glad to help.

Please take picks of the kicks. While I'm going to keep my dyna 7" woofers in the doors,(midbass is great now that I've sealed the doors with RAAMmat) I'm playing around with the idea of either mounting a pair of Dyna dome mids of TheAutophile's S.P.S. speakers in kick pods, and since I have a 5 speed, I'm always open to ideas.

Yep, around 3800 and it includes all equipment including a new alternator and battery. It doesn't include the focal utopias I already paid for though, which were about 450.

I don't know what kind of alternator it is but I can ask. I don't know how much it costs because I'm paying a fixed fee of 3850 which includes everything. And yes I am replacing the stock battery with a new one.

Yeah, i'm not getting a new alternator, they're just modify the existing one to put out more amps, thats about all I know about the alternator. On a side note, clay said the car should be done by the end of next week.

Sorry guys but no more kicks. Clay and I both agreed that they would get in the way of my "spirited" driving. It would have been a very tight squeeze (these are some big a$$ speakers). I know I won't be realizing the full potential of these speakers, but I want to still be able to drive comfortably. So, they're gonna be mounted in the doors and angled outward slightly w/ alot of sound dampening.

Regarding the kicks - if you can imagine it, it can be built. Clay realized they would take a lot more than $300 to build so he scrapped the idea. As far as the alternator goes - I don't think the Hitachi in the 4th gen has much room for improvement. At least that is what I was told by an alternator specialist. The Ohio generator in my car is probably the same as the unit the Mechanical man has posted. It is slightly larger and requires a custom mounting bracket. But just one bracket. The second bracket mounts in stock location with stock hardware.

Clay has an alternator specialist that he uses down the road and I don't think he has taken my car to him yet. Clayh might not konw the capabilities of the 4th gen alternator until he takes it to his specialist. But i'll tell him what you said about it not having much room for inprovement, so maybe i'll have to get a new one
