Are there any monitors that fit flushly in a 2001 dash, without a custom install? I know i can get a motorized flip out joint, but i have my heart set on getting a screen put in that looks factory installed, with my head unit under that. Apparently, the Microvisions don't fit a 2k1 from what i hear, so you know of anything i might be able to get???

Kenwood makes a 6.5 inch double din flush screen that looks real nice installed someone on here has a pic of it. It's the Excelon kvt-715DVD i think. There's a 05 model being released soon. Eclipse also make a similar said to be better flush double din screen too.

Look into the Eclipse models. They are an awesome option. I was able to tinker with one for a 17 1/2 hr drive and loved it. It did everything. Nav was priceless esp going through DC. www.eclipse-web.com They ARE worth the money. I didn't like one thing about the Kenwood Excelon H/U's. They cover/block the AC vents. Interface was decent on it as well. I would still spring for the Eclipse though.

GOOD - Kenwood DDX7015

BETTER - Pioneer AVIC-D1

BEST - Eclipse AVN5435

Never seen the pioneer. Has the Eclipse been released yet? I like that one, looks like a change of plans for me in h/u.

One idea is to measure the opening diagnolly and see what measurement you come up with, that is the screen size you can go with. Jump on eBay and do a search for that size with the same resolution or higher of that of a Microvision screen.

There are a few problems with that, dude. All in-dash monitors are usually of double-din size orientation, which is what the OEM radio is. However, 4th gens have 3 availible openings unlike 5th gens, which means we need to get a double-din all-in-one unit...or make a custom fiberglass mounting (heh).

The main thing to look at when considering these units is if there are mounting kits availible. Have mounting kit = will fit in car.

The Eclipse has been out for some time, but is only availible through authorized dealers...never over the internet.

im looking into the eclipse joint because it is TOO HOT. I need to get a security system too if i get that. Can you insure ICE? like if you have a $3000 system ,for example, you want to be safe with your investment

Yes, I believe Eclipse offers some sort of warranty since the faceplates are non-removable; check with Don to verify this.

i PM'ed him to see what the unit would cost me, no answer on that yet.
I did find that kenwood excelon online for like 1300, but it doesnt have navigation. They sell a navigation unit seperately or bundled with the head unit. The package was like $2200,or $2g, I forget exactly.
