95 max gle bose head unit display problem.

Having problems with my bose HU. The display comes on for about 15 seconds then fades out. Just started to do it the other day. I just put in sirius sat radio but it's the re-broadcast to fm radio, so no problems there unless the use of the cig lighter is related.

Any help appreaciated.

Another thing that was wrong on the display circuit board of my bose was a couple of the leads on the male end of the connectors were not soldered all the way on to the pad, so I resoldered it on there and now it is fine! When putting the bose back together, anytime you deal with connectors, gently slide the connectors together. If you don't, you could bend one of the pins like I did. You can easily bend it right back.

Done
loose solder joint on the board just like the website says.

Now to fix the ashtray. I guess i didn't pull straight enough on the ashtray (those clips are in there good) ended up breaking both tabs off the back But i'll glue it up and add a faew tywraps for strength.

Thanks guys , much appreciated.

Warning!

If you take the radio out, in the process you will probably blow out the light bulbs in your hazard switch and AC control panel. Parts at Radio Shack (272-1092). Buy 3 packages and return whatever you don't use. You also might screw up the reception quality and add some noise you probably didn't have before.

I took out the radio, soldered the resistor, replaced the lamps in the hazard switch and AC controller and it was a pain in the ***. If I had know of all the secondary problems, I might have been more content with losing the display.

Consider this before proceeding.
