TransPod Direct Experience

Hello members of the Maxima.org community:

Today I got a TransPod Direct, made by DLO. When I first placed the cassette it comes with it in my 2003 non-bose deck, it was working flawlessly. However, I tried it later on and it kept checking side 1 and side 2, before it ultimately gave me a Tape Err message. I will probably buy a tape deck cleaner and maybe another inexpensive tape to try out. It plays a 10 year old cd I recorded with no problem. I paid about $70 for this. Hopefully it will work with another tape. Any feedback is helpful.

After doing some research, it may appear that there is too much tension in the spindle, causing the tape spit-out issue. Seems to be the case for at least one user with a 'Sony CPA-9C CD/MD Cassette Adaptor with Self-Adjusting, Spring-Loaded Head' on amazon.com. Another possible solution I've read is for people to unscrew the screws in the cassette and remove the rubber / plastic gear mechanism as to elminate tension on the spindle. Since there is not a spinning tape inside, this won't affect functionality.

I am not sure if there is a list somewhere that shows which adaptors are compatible with the stock head unit?
