If that was a TL, great score. Props anyhow.

I'll have to talk with my buddies at Mobile FX again. I believe it was a TL... but not too sure. Took 3rd overall in 0-500 watt class that day. Can't wait to see what my new setup will do ....

No score. I am afraid of the aftermath. My wallet is already empty. I would have to sell my wallet next. Anyone hitting 140's on the new TL has put some work in. Especially in a trunk car.

Do any of your 3rd gens have pics of your setup or wiring diagrams? I recently went to the slap competition at tweeters and I only got a 125db with 2 JL 500/1 powering 2 Kicker L5 2005. I was using a 50-55hz tone. Did you guys port your rear deck or take out your rear seats? Anyone got any advice for how I can get those numbers?

In my 89' I removed a ton of the foam that actually made up the back upright of the back seat. I was still only hitting low 130db's. I removed the cover to the rear deck and used it and speaker cloth from radio shack to cut out a 12"X14" "vent" in the rear deck with a sawzaw. I then made the exact same cut outin the rear deck cover, covered the entire thing with the speaker grill cloth and reinstalled. Same meter, same shop, same equipment(amps and subs), I hit a 138.3. That car was terrible on the meter. However, sitting in the car with the windows down, mine was def louder.

Bandpass and SQ shouldn't be in the sentence.

Back in the day I hit a 151 in my S-10, with 8 kicker comp 15's but that was on a B&K, and any of the oldtimers can tell you those are alot harder to move. Then in 1999 I did a 161 on an Audio Control in my IDBL machine. It was a CRX with 1 Concept quad coil 18 and four Concept 2400D amps, walled off.

i took out that plastic and cardboard thingy behind the rear seat so when the armrest is down, it vents directly into the cabin. i don't know how much it helps spl wise, but it's kinda cool seeing your friend's sleeve flap from the bass coming out of it

x2 What kinda bandpass? Unless its a extremely well designed 4th order Bandpass or something of that sort I would look into something else. Bandpass enclosures arent noted much for SQ. You should be putting up some decent #'s with that setup in a Max and sound damm good doing it. I would suggest trying a ported box . If you want to maintain SQ, try doing 2-2.5 cubed each ported to low 30's. If its not enough Sq, go sealed with 2 cubes each.

This thread is out of control

First off if 2 Punch Z 12s sealed hit 143, im going to /myself. My friend had 2 of the 10s sealed and I think they were just about the worse sounding subs Ive ever heard.
Second, something is seriously wrong if you only hit a 125 with 2 L5s and 2 500/1's.
Jigga, sorry but its pretty hard to believe your score with 2 L7's. If you hadnt said it was a new TL, then it would have been very believable. But with a 7 cubic foot box, who knows, so if you did indeed hit that, hats off.

Third, and most important, is my new sig thanks to this thread. I think we should have audio quotes of the week, we would compile quite a list if 2 da max got going

I dont see how my score is not believable. 2000 watts and 2 12" L7's ported high will give some good numbers. Not to add,it took me 3 different boxes to get that score and I also had removed the backseat. The thread was meant for others that had similar setups to have a ballpark idea of what there SPL score will be like and what works best in Maxima's. It got kinda derailed I guess.

Ummm *cough* it was 146.7 But like I said, I don't think it was the new TL mic being used. Plus, it was in a truck... we do have that closeness edge over the cars. Plus, we tend to have our stuff last longer, because we'll notice any distortion a lot sooner.

Now just imagine what will happen with my new setup. 4 12"s in a vented box, in the same truck.

kcidmil, sorry my bad, typo. And I doubt it was a new TL, come on, theyre Punch Zs, lol. Sorry, ill never have a good opinion of them thanks to the one kid i knew with two of the tens that sounded like ****. I wish I had a truck or SUV to play with as an SPL car....(hint filtor1 )

This isnt your flea market brand Lanzar. The Opti line of Lanzar is up there with most good companies, rf,kicker, mtx. It may not be as good but definately up there. The Opti2000d has been tested to do 2000 watts at 1 ohm. I love people that talk about what they dont know or havent experienced, ignorance is bliss. What exactly are you running to be talking all this smack?

Hmm, I should take bets to see what this setup would hit

4 Memphis M-Class 12"
500 watts @ 2 ohms.

And before anyone says it... yes that's underpowered. I'm getting the new MC1100D here in a month or so. 1100 watts @ 1ohm... the subs are already wired up for it.

Ok... so who wants to make the first one...

it all depends on whether you judge it legally or outlaw i.e. in the port, or with the windows down.

Well since you asked, the 2 Kicker SX amps are sitting in my room waiting to be installed, along with the AA Avalanche 15 which arrives in 2 days. This thread can continue uninterrupted, as Im not going to start a big argument.

So, 161.7 exactly? I'm psychic.
Sounds like a sweet setup though!
I had 2 18 kickers in my 89 cutlass, never had it measured, but...dammmm. I loved my 18s.
