Two bulges on side of trunk ... wheel well?
Two bulges on side of trunk ... wheel well?
Simple question, but I need to make sure/double check.
The bulges on the side of the 5.5 gen trunk ... that is the wheel well, correct? If I put a drill bit though it, I only need to be concerned with what's visible from the wheel well, correct? I'm assuming there's nothing in between there I cannot see.

Actually ... that's a fantastic grounding point. Enables you to put a nut and bolt through the O ring with some loctite after sanding and keep it hidden behind the factory trunk liner. Might be a good thing to put in a FAQ?
OH ure talking about the ring terminal for the wire..yea those im well aware of
i thought u were talking about a rubber one for some reason..located in that general area that covers an existing hole, or something of that nature

On the drivers side of the trunk, there is a round rubber grommet. I fed my ground wires through there and attatched them to a bolt under the car. It's hidden and I didn't have to drill. Just an option.

Did hooking the ground up to that particular area eliminate any engine whine? I need to try something out to fix my engine whine...

You know, I'm looking into having my trunk shot with bedliner ... should be a killer sound deadener ...

Absolutely. All any sound deadener does is add weight to metal to reduce resonant frequencies. If you wanted, you could strip your entire interior and have them spray the entire inside of the car. Wouldn't be cheap, but your car would ride like a Lexus.

I don't think you have the gromet in your 4th gen. 5th gens do though.

Now ... my only question is about cost effectiveness as everything on the internet points to it being $300 or so to do the bed of a truck ... I wonder how much they would charge to do the trunk of a car.
Holy ****. Just called Line-X in Clearwater to get a quote ... $500. Looks like it's DIY or empty your pockets ...
Oh and ... most, if not all, spray sound deadeners smell at least a little bit ...

If you can stand the smell then go for it. I say buy some deadner and invite some friends over and go at it. I would be willing to shoot down for the day and bang out some deadener if you went that route.
$500 is crazy. Especially if it was going to smell.

$500 is more than crazy ... you'd have to have a labotomy to do that.
Anyway ... I think the spray route is in my forseeable future. There are lots of nice products out there. It will just take time to mask everything off and make sure you don't paint the car itself in the meantime ... YIKES.

There is the kind you roll on and then there is also aerosol type spray. This is the most versatile way to do it. When you spray your door panels, it's easier to get a good coat on the outer door skin as well.
