(gen 4 here, but I think no difference)

I found the easiset way was to pop out those two plastic grommets that are in the door with the existing wire holding them there, and where the wires are going. The wire then fit easily through the existing hole with it out because you then have acces to both the front and back of these grommets.

With these popped out, it's a 1 minute job Pop them the way they are in the pic I linked to so they are hanging in between the door and the car, and they are easy to pop back in there.

http://www.bboystevie1.elitecaraudio.org/photo.html and second pic down.
Hope this helps.

Just drilled a hole behind the kick panel and then into the side of the door. Yellow arrow points to the wire.

Mine looks very similar to Tony's. There is a decent sized opening under the kick panel where I drilled a hole for the speaker wires as well. The rear doors, I was able to snake the wire through the gromet.

Would have been so much nicer if the grommet for the front doors was the same as the rears. ::sigh::

is it really hard to fish it thru the grommet on the doors instead of having to drill. I dont wanna put holes thru my car. I havent tried yet but I think I'm going to use some fish tape and see if I can fish the wire thru.

There are Molex plugs there, hence the need to drill..

Actually, if you take a look near the body-side grommet (the one that you can't get into), you will see a circular piece of rubber, about the size of a nickel or quarter. Look from the front of the car with the door all the way open, and you'll see what I mean. You should be able to pop that out and use the hole, or actually run the wire through the piece of rubber itself and just use some silicone to seal.

I actually did what Don describes above, and I have some pics, but they're not much different than anybody else's. If I'd known about the circular thingy before, I probably woulda tried that way.

You guys really shouldn't have to drill anything. OSH sells a grometb (fits on the car body) which can perfectly house a 16ga wire with a wire loom around it.

read my reply here:

If you guys need a write up, let me know...I'll spend an hour and take the pics, but pleaaase dont drill your cars.

Have you tried running a 10Awg AND a 14Awg through it?

You guys don't have to drill anything, my car (2002) has a small grommet (that just fills a hole) in the body already. A fellow local org member pointed it out to me. I can take pics later today when I have a camera.

The small grommet is located about 3" below the main grommet.

Many Many Thanks, Guys!!!

Big Ups to TheBigDu... I took your advice and built my false floor in the trunk this past weekend, and now you've pointed out something else that's been bugging me. Thanks much, bro!

@Metal Maxima - thanks for asking this question! I'm going to look at these spots in the door when I get home tonight...

@ everybody else - thanks for chiming in and adding your input to this thread! This has been extremely helpful. Now I can try to finish up the rest of my wiring at the very least this weekend!

UPDATE>> Yep. The spots are there and this can be accomplished without drilling holes. The rear doors are easier because the grommets are a very pliable rubber and can be removed and replaced easily. I will post pictures of the locations on my website when I get ready to install my speakers.

Anyone ever take/post pics of all of this?

Thanks!

The more pics (of any of your install) the better!

Everything I've seen you do so far looks really well done.
