Best Amplifier

Currently Im running two 12 inch Type R's off a MB Quart Reference 1000 watt amp at 1 ohm(500 to each speaker). the MB Quart subs Im about to install have an 800 watt RMS and Im looking for an affordable amp that will push these to their max. I kinda wanna stick with one amp but Im not opposed to using two amps. Thanks

What size/type enclosure are they going in? Because RMS is an almost useless spec on a sub. For example, here's the Adire tech paper on the Brahma power handling - link.

I would keep the same amp, or trade for 2 class d if you are wanting more rms power. If the quarts are dual 4 ohm you can go either way. 2 d class would take the strain off the amp having to run 1 ohm to put out that much power.

Yeah the amp you have is pretty good if i remember correctly. Good clean power, there's really not a reason to switch it. It will drive your subs pretty damn hard

Yeah I cant wait to install them, I just need to get either a box for each sub and have them in the corners of my trunk or get one box to hold both. Im not sure if I should get a ported or sealed box. I listen to alot of rap and I like the speakers to hit really low, I know that would mean ported but I kinda wanna get a sealed, any suggestions. Do the sealed enclosures still get low and boomy?

port those suckers. it'll be louder than your sealed. sealed enclosures can get decently low if they're big enough, or by the use of some polyfill to trick the sub into thinking it's in a bigger box.

Any good sites youve found with helpful box-building advice. Like how to calculate the size of the pieces. I bought a program but I dont have some of the parameters it asks for for my sub and I cant find them anywhere, so It doesnt calculate it right, thanks.

Go with 3/4. 1" would be for something like a Re XXX or a W7...

i would have to say go with the mtx1501d modified or a mmats d100hc...your subs will hate you but your ears will love either.. both are beasts and will easily supply approx 1500 watts.

If you are looking at building your own box you can also go to rockford fosgates home page and you can input the measurements and it will give the size according to those numbers.

Signal/Noise Ratio: >105dBA
Frequency Response: 5Hz-50KHz

3000 Watts x 2 into 1 Ohms
6000 Watts Bridged into 2 Ohms
(underrated rms power rating)

VLX-400 and USA-800 are beasts as well

vlx400 is rated at 2400x1@1ohm (underrated rms measured at 12v). Since it is a high current amp you can play it at 1/2 ohm also (double the power). I've heard that it can burp at 1/8 ohm.

Does anyone have any good brands to recommend, I see split opinions on the web regarding the Boss, Hifonics, Lanzar, MA Audio, Sony, and Crunch amps, any recommendations on good brands that give the power they state?

Memphis... in fact I've been able to squeeze more than the rated power out of my MC500D.

I don't know your price range but this should have more than enough clean power for ya.
