The only real reason i can think of is that there is an antenna built into the rear windshield...and when you turn it on it creates the static
And since you have Bose, the system decided which antenna is getting a better reception the one on the rear windshield or the actually antenna...

Alright...

There is 2 antennas in the max
The one that comes out of the side of the trunk
and on built into the rear winshield...

The bose looks at both signals and it decides which one has the best reception (aka getting the best signal)

It picks the one with the strongest signal.

Sorry about confusing you in the other post...I was out there, and I didn't proof read...

Did you figure it out? On my '04 max, after getting repaired this spring from a rear-end accident, I have the same problem. Nissan hasn't been helpful.

As soon as I turn on the rear defroster, the radio reception totally cuts out (only static). I figure it's a bad ground or something, the defroster is grounding through the antenna or something, but the rear defrost still works.
