Hey all, i just installed this unit..... bought used.........But im having some trouble with it... Ok well it powers up, radio works and puts out sound.....but DVDs and CDs do not put out sound? like it plays the DVD on the screen and shows CD playing time, but puts out no sound???....... im pretty sure this means a defective/broken unit, since the radio puts out sound just fine....but was wondering if anyone else maybe had an idea, or something i might be missing!.........

 

Sure you dont have your power antenna wire switched with your remote turn on by mistake?

i.e. the usually thin blue wires coming from the amp should go to the blue/white from the deck, not the blue.

 

Not sure how that might effect it, but i checked and all is good..... each wire is connected right..... but as i say the radio works fine..... just the sound output on DVDs and CDs does not work............... what about ifi was too connect a digital audio out cable too the back of the unit and connect it too the brain? perhaps maybe, errr i dunno.....

 

That might affect it because your power antenna gives 12v output from the deck only when the radio is on, whereas your power antenna (blue/white) gives output when the deck itself is on, on any source, so that your amps are on whenever the deck is on.

Just check and see if the amps are actually lit up/turned on when you have a dvd or cd in.

 

Ahhh i see what your sayin now.....but i went andchecked, yes the amps are on with a CD in......

 

Only thing you can do is start narrowing down now, i.e. put a CD in and test your RCAs at the amps to see if theyre getting any signal. A multimeter is your best friend.

 

HI, I have been endlessly trying to find a forum or info with the EXACT same issue i'm having on the same Eclipse AV 8132 unit. I was just wondering how did you fix that prob because I can't seem to understand what the prob is.
