New HU, Now lights dim like crazy??

New HU, Now lights dim like crazy??

Hey all, i bought a need head unit 2day, a pioneer premier deh-p860mp...installed it, i like the way it sounds great and all......but i noticed my lights dim one whole hell of alot more than they did before with my kenwood kdcx859?? any idea why?? is this normal?.... before only my check engine light dimmed...now everything does..... would pre out diffrences make a diffrence ??? or what ?

I assume that you have amplifiers since you said preouts. Did you readjust you gains, or just put the HU in and left it as is. If the Pioneer has a higher preout voltage than the Kenwood (which I think it does), you may be clipping your amps when you turn it up loud.

A preout difference alone should not do this if the gains were properly setup before you put in the Pioneer unit.

For the dimming lights you may also want to look at the grounding of your amps to make sure they are getting good ground.

Check you gains, and I would recommend upgrading the 'ol BIG 3, a nice $20 mod that will certainley improve your dimmage.
