Best 12v power source?

Just got a Sirius Starmate system for my wife's '95 SE and she's not too thrilled about the power cord running up the dash from the cigarette lighter socket. I was thinking of trying to hardwire it by tapping into the fuse box or maybe the power and ground wires running to the HU. But thought I'd ask here first to see what recommended. Thanks in advance.

HU? Cig lighter? Many options, your choise. You can run your own wire from the batt and use a relay so its only on when car is.

I would wire it to a relay and hook it up to the remote turn-on wire.

This is not an answer to your question cauce im kind of in the same boat. Im hooking up my sirius and im trying to look for the best place to pick up power also. On my sirius it requires a constant hot and a swiched hot. The guy at the store said to hook into the ignition harness to the white with red stripe , and the red with yellow strip. Is this correct and if so where do i find this harness. Or is there a better way to hook it up. Thank You....

Oh forgot to mention The car is a 1997 Infiniti I30 with bose.
