Any experience/advice on LoJack

Hey guys! I wanted to install a lojack in my 2000 Maxima. Anybody here ever had experience with it. Also, I can't seem to find the pricing for this service, anybody know how much it costs?

thanks

Don't know about the pricing, but from what I know of it and from what I've heard, GET IT. If you have a system, make it really hard to rip out, and get an alarm. This will make it tough for your stuff to het jacked. Lojack makes it real hard to steal the whole car.

I would get it because it is a stealth install, most thieves may not know it is there, but it is only effective in car retrieval. Chances are if they steal the car, they will strip what they can asap and ditch it if they have time. If they steal a car at 2 am and it is not reported stolen until 6 am they've had quite a bit of time to work. Last time i heard I think it was around $800 installed, the monitoring service maybe extra, but I'm not sure, just do a google and find their website.

LOJACK also has a new feature were they will call, page, or email you if your car may have been moved so you can go check on it right away and report it stolen before it can be stripped.

Also the standard lojack is not monitored. It is activated by the police once the vehicle is reported stolen. But you have to give them your VIN. There may be a fee for the new service because the lojack unit has to have a way to monitor the status of the vehicle, (maybe shock sensor, starter etc...) then activate by itself.

One thing, you can't transfer it from one car to another, my last max that got wrecked had it installed at the new dealer and I wanted to keep it, but its not possible.

Check out the website for a local installer to get a quote, and if you are going to get it I would get the early warning service. If your car is stolen its well worth it.
