i wouldnt even think about ALL that extra weight in your car dude..just enjoy the system..i sure hope you dont plan on doing anything performance wise..because it will only give you enough gains to convert the car back to stock...honestly...im sure that stuff is gonna weigh a hell of alot of weight....my suggestion..get some stiff as springs..with a nice set of struts..that way if people can actually sit in your car..they wont bottom out the car....still GJ on all this...just thought you should take into account the fact that you may have passengers...you are still a maxima 5 gen guru..lol

INITIAL OBSERVATIONS:

Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. It is QUIET AS HELL in my cabin now, and that's still with over 80% of the interior stripped!!! I still have some more deadening to do, though...

(1) 3 Wheel Wells
(2) Additiona Layers Spectrum on doors
(3) Carpet Padding on Doors
(4) Carpet Padding in trunk

...it's pretty close to being done, and MAN is the ride ever nice!!!

No more than +162 lbs. I almost never ride with passengers, and when I do, it's only the future Mrs.Reim, and she does not have too great an effect considering shes 5'0" and 103lbs. As far as performance is concerned, if I wanted a faster car, I would have bough one with a bigger engine.

If you need more performance you can always tweak the engine I'd like to see what you can do under the hood probably some things. Next time I recarpet (wont be for a while) I'm gonna do some deading of my own. Very nice btw I wish I could take a ride as I'm sure its quiet as he11 that is when the music is off. Do you have another car you are using while this project is taking place? Well I guess it doesnt matter if you are off work and have the supplies. Keep us posted as always.

I am thinking I may get there some day...I too, would like to see what I am capable of doing under the hood (I could finally put that ChE degree to work!). I think in due time I might, the first thing being a retrofit of a BMW A/C unit so I can get teh uber-cold air in my cabin.

I know when I took my dash out to paint it, when I was driving around people were looking at me like I was crazy with no dash. Our dash blocks out most of the noise from the engine bay, the 3.5 is pretty loud with no dash. Did you deaden the back of your dash?

Nah. You know what a hassle that wouldb be to remove all the hoses and such. Plus, it's a tight fit, so I would not want to risk not being able to get it back in.

That sounds more like it. I don't know what everyone on this thread is smoking, but come on, 500 pounds? We're talking about multiple, relatively thin layers of relatively light material. This is not sheet steel or lead weights.

Metal's car is not going to be slow and the deading is well worth it. In fact, if he spent money on lightweight wheels and tires, the reduction in reciprocating mass would make more of a difference than a little extra dead weight.

Keep us updated on the project!

i was exagerrating.. if i had to guess i would have guessed more than 160, but not anywhere near 500.. i just figured all of that stuff and the spray on stuff would have added up ya know?... im sure he won't even notice the weight. its like one extra person in the car all the time, cept spread out throughout the whole car.. not really bad at all. well worth it IMO.

Remove the dome and map lights, remove the side pillars, and it should fall out.

Even then, the slight weight increase is well worth it. It'll provide a much more comfortable & enjoyable environment when driving.

Metal Maxima why did you use spectrum on your doors and other places instead of sludge? Sludge seems to be a better product and plus you can apply 1 heavy coat at 1 time for the same price.

I'm wondering the same. Also, how much of what you bought have you actually used? I'm looking at putting about 80% (random made up number) of what you did in all the same places you did, but don't want to lose the money on getting too much.
