I have (4) Infinity Kappa 5x7 100W RMS from my previous car. They were pretty expensive and I hate to waste them.
Would they fit a 5th Gen Max??
I do have the Bose system, and I am not even sure how the Kappas 100W RMS compare to the Bose specs (by the way... what are the specs for the Bose speakers anyway??) but I am assuming the Kappas are at least a bit better than the stock.
So assuming they are indeed a bit better... could they fit in the Max ??
Thanks in advance?

thanks for the reply KPR.
I was doing some searching too and found this:
Quote:
2 - 1" tweeters in the a-pillar
2 - 6.5" wide-rage speakers in each front door
2 - 5.25" wide-range speakers in each rear door
1 - 8" Nd TM woofer w/switching amp and signal processing w/100 watt amplifier
1- 4 channel amplifier (4 x 25) with custom equalization and signal processing
2 - 1" tweeters in the a-pillar
2 - 6.5" wide-rage speakers in each front door
2 - 5.25" wide-range speakers in each rear door
1 - 8" Nd TM woofer w/switching amp and signal processing w/100 watt amplifier
1- 4 channel amplifier (4 x 25) with custom equalization and signal processing
So I am assuming the rear ones should be easy to fit (are 5.25" the same as 5x7??)
And you saying that the front ones I could custom install them.
Now if you have experience with sound systems and the Max Bose system, could you tell me if it is worth putting (4) Kappas on the Maxima??
Here is the link for the speakers:

I loved these speakers.... really. I am hoping they would be an upgrade to the bose system.
Only thing I am concerned is that the Bose seems to be matched to the AMP so that no distortion occurs... meaning that the AMP is not really high output. Other words... I would need to eventually upgrade the AMP so that I could benefit from the new speakers. Is that correct?

Correct, Bose systems have 5.25 in the rear, non Bose has 6.5. Yes, you can not run kappas off your Bose amp. Youd either need an aftermarket amp or an aftermarket deck to power them. You could custom install them both, front and rear...Theres people who put 8's in the doors, its just a matter of how much work you want to do. Personally, Id find a buyer for em, yes theyd be an upgrade to the Bose system, but youd need to put some money into your system first with at least a head unit, if not an amp. Plus circular speakers are best for sound reproduction, not oval ones.

Are you on MSN? it would be easier to suck all the knowledge out of you! he he he
Regarding the amp... I do have two amps also from the same old car (i installed 1 amp for the sub and another for the 4 Kappas). I knew in the near future i would need the amp also installed.. but i cant see why the bose amp wouldnt work with kappa speakers. I am assuming it has some proprietary bull**** that prevents u from using other speakers?? My next question would be: can this "feature" be by-passed so that I can use the bose amp for now (before installing the new amp?)
Like said, i have two amps in hand. One is really crap.. the other pretty decent: 4x85W. I forgot the brand... it is nothing extremly fancy but it worked fine with the kappas.
So basically you saying in order to use the (4) kappas i would have to change the Amp at the same time? No way to use the bose amp with the kappas, right?
Also, my amp is 4x85... so could i use the 4 channels to each door? Now what happens with the tweeters and the woofer?? Can i still use the stock Amp (keep it) and run to the tweeters and woofer?
How does that work? I am a little confused... i know basic sound stuff (like i did install the 2 amps and ran the rca and the wires to speakers) but I can't visualize how to power 2 tweeters, 2 front doors, 2 rear doors and a woofer all from one 4 channel amp.
It crossed my mind that i could keep the bose amp for the small things and add an amp for the doors. would that work??
Long post. my bad!

Damn.. lots of info to be found!!!
I just a post about this PAC devide... you can either replace stock Bose amp or add a second amp... great stuff!!!
Here is the link:

Anyone tried adding a second Amp??
KPR, is that what I need to add another AMP and make the kappas work?? I mean, I already have the speakers + AMP sitting in my trunk... so all i would need to buy is this AOEM Kit ??

I myself have never used any of those PAC converters. Theres NO way to run Kappas off the Bose amps, youd have to run your 4x85 amp with high low converters if you are keeping the factory deck. High low converters would take the speaker wire at the Bose amp on the rear deck and convert it to RCA cable which would run to your 4 channel amp.
When you buy a set of component speakers, which have a separate aftermarket tweeter, it comes with a crossover. Basically the speaker wire output for one certain channel of the amp goes to the crossover, which splits signal to only send the midrange speaker certain frequencies and the tweeter certain frequencies. The Bose tweeters suck, and they will no longer play if you wire up the Kappas straight to the aftermarket amp. You dont need them anyway. If you really want to put tweeters in the pillar, you could try and find a set of 2 crossovers and 2 tweeters online or from Infinity, so that you could wire up the tweeters properly and only send them higher frequencies.
And no, I dont have MSN, I have AIM, but Im online at weird hours, and I have cell forwarding on AIM, which I usually dont reply to if its a maxima.org question because it takes money to send texts plus it would take forever.
Cliff Notes: Install the 4x85 amp using 2 high low converters to power the kappas, and forget about the Bose tweeters because they suck. This is all assuming you dont want to spend any money on component speakers or anything.

I tend to get a bit irritable
