BOSE Replacement

Well, after a short hiatus from Maxima's and driving in general..my Sterling Mist auto 99 rests in car heaven, and I now drive a Deep Evergreen 5spd 95. But anyway, car has BOSE, an aftermarket Sony headunit (came with car) and blown rear speakers. I've been doing the best I can around this corner of the board trying to find out what to do, and have really only come upon the questions to ask. Anyway, here they are:

Since the rear speakers are going to be replaced anyway, I figured I should probably do the front while I'm at it. So my question is, should I replace with BOSE or aftermarket? The reason I'm asking is because BOSE seem's like a formidable challenge to change out, and my audio install knowledge isnt quiet where I think it should be to do it myself. Well, alone anyway.

If I do go aftermarket, what's a good component system? I've read up on Infinity, Kappa and Reference. Would one of those series work well, front and rear speakers? Or if not so much, what would be a good combo, OR, some info that will allow me to pick one out myself?

Lastly, would it just be easier to buy this adapter I've heard about when I change out the headunit, replace BOSE with BOSE, and just add subs and an amp?

Thanks for any and all help.
(P.S: All of my posts after this will be under my S/N, as this is my cousin's, and I really needed to make this post)

I wouldn't ever consider replacing my Bose with Bose if they ever blow out. Infinity's are great for the money. Quite a few of my buddies are running kappas and references and they sound great. When I get around to doing my audio, I'll most likely go with Kappa 6.5 components in front, 6.5 2-ways in back.

That's sound's like a decent setup, and after doing alittle more research, how hard is it to get those in actually? I heard you have to bypass the amps and such, and is this something that can be done within the timespan of a long day, precise directions and/or help?

He has an aftermarket head unit already, so that should hook right up to any set of aftermarket speakers. It's only when you keep a part of the Bose system (either headunit or speakers) it becomes slightly more difficult. If that's your plan, you'll need certain connectors to adapt from the (i believe) 2ohm bose signal to the 4ohm typical speaker signal.
