Sound deadening.. edead v. others..
Sound deadening.. edead v. others..
Has anyone had experience working with edead for sound deadening as opposed to something like second skin or dynamat?
The price is a lot better, but how is the quality?

yes i have..i have edead 1.0 in my car right now and i hate it....as soon as it got hot it started to smell...and also as soon as it got hot it started to melt away... when it started to melt away it no longer was sticky so my rattles came back...i could literally now go to my rear deck and just remove it without pulling it off.

Have you had dynamat / whatever before, and the smell is worse.. or is it just the general smell of sound deadener??
thanks for the input though

eDead sucks!! I don't why people recommend this crap. It does fall off as the pictures show on the link once it gets really hot even with preparation with acetone and using a roller to apply it. My main complaint about it is really the smell. It smells absolutely horrible straight out of the box and the smell continues for a good 5 months. Everytime it goes above 80 degrees and my car is sitting in the sun I smell it. I've previously used peel n seel and dynamat extreme. Neither peel n seel nor dynamat extreme have a smell to them and they both stick. I had a sheet of dynamat extreme in my old car and I can't even force it off after 3 years not to mention its on the trunk lid and I did NOT prep the surface what so ever. Yes it is expensive but it works.
Peel n seel can be had at local hard ware store its about the same quality of edead except it doesn't smell.
I'll have to look into second skin to redo my max as it looks to be a superior product. I think being located in Arizona is a definite plus!

I HAD Edead version 2 on my car, lasted about a whole month before it started peeling away. And the sad part was I had about 3 layers of it on and they all peeled away. I wasn't impressed at all by it. Now I have Dynamat Extreme and some "other" goodies I found here locally. Stay away from Edead. Second Skin is the bomb though, my boy who owns a stereo shop says it seels like hot cakes from his store. May be using that for my other projects I have coming up.
