This Sucks - Stereo Install

Well, got the whole dash apart and bought the Scosche dash kit for my 02 Maxima. I just picked up an alpine IVA-D900

Well, It will not work in my car with the Scosche kit, just doesn't fit...I'm pretty dissapointed as I thought that may make it look a little cleaner. Any thoughts on instillation? I can stick with the kit i have, I just don't like the looks very much.

PS - the kit I have is the one where the radio is up top and there is a small tray at the bottom, can't think of the name.

Thanks

Both holes are the same size. The size of the faceplace itself. To be ISO mounted without the trim ring. I drilled new holes in the factory ISO mount brackets to make that screen sit as flush as it sits. And that was that.

I dont know why anyone would put the screen in the upper DIN when you have the option to put it in the lower one. Enjoy blocking your own a/c?

it wouldn't fit through the din, the Alpine was about 1/4 inch too wide...it was really really weird.

sorry about the RED X...pulled picture off the internet

I didn't have any problems with mine but if it is wide, why not just mask it off, file/dremel the 1/8th of an inch on each side.

You did realize that the screw holes are indented correct? If theyre not lined up then it will seem like the HU is to wide. Other than that all HUs are the same width....

yes, I know this...the head unit is about 1/8" wider than my other one, I up them up to each other...

I was thinking about dremeling it, we'll see...I'm satisfied with the way it is now.

do you have the metal cage around it? does the alpine have a cage, i dont even remeber. but if hes got the cage on it that would explain it being wider than his other headunit

nope, this is with the cage off. Cage won't even fit in the opening on the Scosche, the Scosche is about 1/8" too small...really weird huh?
