Help picking amp and sub.

My factory BOSE sub is dying so gotta get something else.

For budget $275-350.
Watts 200-275
10inch
sealed box

The amp that I'm looking at now is:

JBL CS200.1
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-JBL-CS200-1-...QQcmdZViewItem

and

HIFONICS MERLIN HF WARRIOR
http://cgi.ebay.com/HIFONICS-MERLIN-...QQcmdZViewItem

any ideas?

As for subs, I don't really know yet.

How many watts is the factory BOSE sub rated at?
I need HELP!!!!!
Music without bass is just wrong.

It's a little rough getting a sub, sub box, and amp for $300 when staying away from the Kenwood's, Pioneer, etc.
If you are just looking to get a little boom back in your car you might want to consider the Infinity Basslink, or an active subwoofer system that has an amp built in, like the Bazooka, that should keep it within that range.

By the way the Bose sub is probably rated at around 30W for the most.

I would have to say look at Elemental Designs . as far as amplifier look to the jl audio e6450, can run the entire car and the sub portion is hearty enough to get you 300 watts to the sub and run the four interiors just fine

Unless I mis-understood his post, he wants to spend about $300 and that amp alone runs for about $300.

enclosure you can pick up a q logic on sound domain in the opened box returned item section to run this pretty cheap would probably cost a little over the 300 with the box but should be under 400.
178 for E6450

MTX Sub for 30 Just dump the box

Ported box for 34

Sealed box for the ten

So
$178 amp
$115 sub or 30 if you catch that mtx
~$50 box

so you can do it if you want

I try to deter people from Flebay as I hear horror stories about electronics periodically. Also I was quoting him on a new amp price. I guess I take it for granted that I usually want warranty, etc. But you can definately get electronics on Fleabay within your budget, just be cautious.

You could always get the MBQuart deal off crutchfield. All you have to do is wait till the next paycheck and get a box and wiring

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-UsaBOJa...g=208250&avf=N

Or there's always Sounddomain's open box area

http://www.cardomain.com/shoptype/Open+Box

I had a set of old RF Punch Z subs, they lasted me for over 3 years and only cost me $70. In fact, I sold them to a buddy of mine, and they're still thumping just fine.

Your local Memphis dealer might be selling PR subs for cheap as well, ours here is selling them for $75, and they are a decent sub. Better than Punch Zs IMO (prices for 12" subs, 10" will be cheaper of course)

I just set the price at $350 so that I won't go crazy. I don't have to buy the stuff all at once. I wanted to keep the sub and box at $150 and the amp at $150. I wouldn't also mind buying used stuff.

Also, the two amps I post, are they a good company?

DOHCSER, he didnt have a prob with ebay in my looking at his post seeing as his two links were to auctions. I can understand where your coming from, but I was just trying to meet his budget. And I listed the 6450 that was 178 currently. There is another BuyItNow for 200. The sub he could have done the mtx for 30 and th ebox and been at about 320.

John
as for the companies they are alright. the hifonics i would shoot for a zeus amp. The company that now makes them is alright. it isnt really necessary for you to go all out so i would say the zeus 600 and would stick to hifonics over the jbl (although the 1200.1 and 600.1 they make are decent)
Image Dynamic IDQ 12$119
Crystal 15 $63
Pioneer 12$47
Box for 12 w/Amprack
This also would be under warranty as the items are from sounddomain.

Or go for the gusto with two twelves in a box for 150
Fosgates
and do an amp...

I would have to second the notion on the IDQ...but not the eD. I hate their stuff.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm might get the Hifonics amp or a used/new MTX 421D.
Is there a advantage in have a mono amp over a bridged 2 channel amp?
Also A/B and D amps?

I don't need high-end stuff.

I went to an audio shop today, to cheak out the stuff. The advise me not to do it my self. They said I might kill the on board computers. They wanted $400 for a full install with one 10inch Kicker, kicker amp, and custom ported box. I just wanna could I do it my self, or just believe what they say and give them $400?

Ofcourse they will tell you that, they want the business, unless you don't feel comfortable or do not have any experience installing 12V then you should seek a professional's help.

But like Don said, hit him up he can proabably set you up with something better than what they are giving you.
