FM Modulator Installation for MP3 Player

I have bought and installed an Audiovox FMM 100 FM antenna modulator to use with a portable MP3 player on my Bose (Clarion) HU. I got the antenna adapters, wired it all properly - ground, power, RCA adapters, etc. The modulator works on two frequencies 88.7 and 89.1. The sound is clear and of good quality coming from MP3 player and of decent power. So all good there...

The problem I have is that the radio reception got much worse after I installed it and from the stations I had on my presets before the installation only one is still clear, one with some static interference and the other 4 I cannot listen to any more. Has anyone else experienced similar problems or have you had better experiences than me? What FM modulator have you used?
