aftermarket amp for bose audio system

i have a 97 maxima with 6 speaker bose system. The quality is decent certainly not as good as bose home electronics. I read this a while back somewhere and I can't find the link anymore. I can't even remember wut it said but I do remember that if I need to buy an amp to use with stock bose speakers i need to get one with some special feature, because the bose headunit sends signals on a different frequency or something. Can someone clarify that?
Is it true that each of my bose speakers has an amp?

Also since my car is in the shop getting body repairs, could someone look on their back speakers, and type the speaker brand and specs? I need to know what wire it uses( 4 ohmsor 8 ohms). Thx.
