Need some opinions please
I currently have re 6.5 comps up front and infinity kappa 52 (I think) in the rear. However, I hate my setup. Not enough high, mids or lows. I need some opinions on what I should purchase. My teats are blown! The current amp I am running is:
Phoenix Gold Octane-R 5.0:4:
500 WATT MAX OUTPUT
250 x 2 or 500 x 1 max
50x 4 real RMS continuous rated Power @ 4 Ohms
150 x 2 bridged real RMS continuous rated Power @ 4 Ohms
2 channels (bridge able to 1 channel, or you can split it to 4)
12dB per octave built-in High Pass and Low Pass crossovers
auxiliary output
0 - 15 DB Twin Bass Boosting
Independent controls for each channel
What would be the best bang for my buck. What would you recommend? I will buy some 6.5 and tweets or a comp set. I am going to be purchasing these PROBABLY after xmas, but I am getting some opinions now, so I can start reading up on things and comparing opinions on other forums. I am willing to spend a little money, but I still want to get the best for my money.
This is for the people who don't like to read:
I want to buy new 6.5 and tweets.
The amp I have for them is Phoenix Gold OCTANE-R5.0:4 80W x 4 Channel Amplifier
500 WATT MAX OUTPUT
250 x 2 or 500 x 1 max
50x 4 real RMS continuous rated Power @ 4 Ohms
150 x 2 bridged real RMS continuous rated Power @ 4 Ohms

Opinions and Comments appreciated

Just sounds like you need to take it to a shop and get it tuned frequency wise. Cars have cabin gain so not every average setting will do. You may also want to get an independent crossover to tweak a little bit more than just high pass and low pass settings on amps.
For example the amp for the comps should be on high pass. Bass on low pass obviously if it has a frequency switch you may want the low pass to take over at about 100-80hz. If you had an idependent crossover you could put the comp amp on full range and tweak the comps to play from 20khz-about 100hz. Amp gain also plays a major role, that's why you may want to take it to a shop or google on setting gains.
If you scroll down in this forum there was a thread on "Comps" a few days ago, you can get some ideas from there on which brand you may want, also test listening to them is waaay better than just word of mouth.

I see your reply, but I had them installed by a friend. He has down plenty of installs. I am not satisfied at all with these REs. The high were not the great when the tweats were working and the mid and low wasn't too impressive either. The speakers give a little tump in the door, not as much as I hoped.
I listen mostly to (southern) rap. Lots and highs and lows. With my current setup before the blown tweats, the high weren't that good, nor was the bass. I had to set my highs an lows really high. It still didn't give enough highs or lows.
