bose vs. aftermarket comp....

the bose in my car in now blown and sounds like garbage....my girlfriends maxima has bose however thats not blown and sounds pretty good. it has pretty good bass for a stock system and is pretty clear. my question is how does a low to mid range aftermarket component and rearfill speaker set sound compared to bose. does it still have as good bass. or maybe it sound a heck of a lot better. i have no idea???????

Well, in a maxima it'll be hard to beat the BOSE with a mid-low end set of components and speakers. The acoustics of the new maximas help the sound out tremendously, so I'm not sure if the $ for some components would justify replacing the entire BOSE setup. I don't know where the tweeter placement is, but I believe that in the Muranos they are mounted in the dash reflecting off of the windshield. If you picked up a nice pair of tweeters and had them installed in the A-pillars, that would be the biggest improvement in the system.

Here is an example of what www.innovativerides.com of Houston, TX did in a Nissan 350z convertible.

BOSE doesn't always suck. Listen to the 05 Chevy Envoy, and it may change your mind.

but yeah, i'd invest in an aftermarket system. sounds much better, and with more tweaking ability.
