Alright, so I think I'm going to settle with Eclipse 5-series HU. Boston Acoustics speakers. And now I need a sub to replace the current one. I don't want a box, so 10'' and 12'' are out of the question. I want something with more punch than the stocker, but don't want a box in the trunk. That said, I need recommendations now. What subs can directly replace the stock 8''? Does it have to be a specific free-air sub or will any 8'' sub do?
And...is it possible to fit a 10'' in the rear deck in place of the 8''?

All things are possible. Do you like your spare? If you don't care for it I would build a tire well enclosure out of fiberglass. Org member Choray911 has a small box under the rear deck that holds 2 8s and it's pretty sweet, you don't really loose much space, you just have to put in trunk struts. If all that won't work for you i would find a free air 10" and reinforce the back deck a little more.
Good choice on the HU. You just can't go wrong with Eclipse. A sub sesigned for free air applications will be best suited and recommended in this situation. I have heard a CDT 8", and a ID8, both IB in the stock location using the Bose plate as the mount with a MDF ring and 2 sheets of deadener. I was impressed with the output of both. Def more than the stock Bose sub by far. Just be carefull to not overdrive it.
Yes a 10" would fit with minor cutting. The only reason it wouldn't would be mounting depth. I am trying to talk SC2K1 into upgrading to a 10" IB.

Would amp need to be upgraded as well for an aftermarket 8" sub or bose could be used?
NYPD-Arnold, I bought a bunch of stuff from this dealer and he said he would seel a pair of CDT ef-8s for $115 shipped.
I might be interested as well so maybe you could buy one and I could buy one and get it for very cheap

Yeah, I'd need a new amp too. Hmm...so both for 115, eh? Which would bring just one sub to $57. Let's do it, dude. 300W output...damn, sounds great to me. Will need to track down an amp now too.
But yeah, PM me with more details, CKOTuHA
