Please help w/ Bose amp in 4th Gen!!
I bought a Pioneer AVIC-D1. I don't have much experience with mobile electronics, but I sucessfully hooked up all of the gps stuff so far.
Now its time for the audio... The back of the new HU (which has a built in amp) has regular speaker leads for a 4 speaker system, as well as rca audio outputs. I bought the PAC ROEM NIS2 adapter, and I tried connecting the speaker leads from the new HU wire for wire to the adapter's high level wires and I couldn't hear a thing...
Then I read on an older post on here that I need to use the pre-out wires (or rca in my case) to send audio signal to the Bose amp. My question is, should I just bypass the adapter and run RCA cables straight from the HU to the amp? Or, should I strip the RCA wires at the back of the HU and connect them wire for wire with the high level wires of the adapter??
Second question, and I'll probably be flamed for this, but where exactly IS the Bose amp located in my 4th gen? I Does it even have RCA inputs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

1. Your initial plan was correct, but it sounds like you had neglected to connect the Amp power-up lead on your head unit to the NIS adapter in order to turn on your Bose amps. Therefore, the Bose amps are not being turned on with the head unit. Amps off = no sound.
2. There is not a single Bose amp, there are actually Bose amps mounted on each speaker.
