blown speakers
i have just the stock speakers in my max, not the bose. i want to get new speakers and was hoping to get some input on which speakers to get since there is a group deal going on right now. i'm really new to the whole audio thing. thanks in advance

Thats an extremely broad question, please narrow it down a little...what kind of music you listen to, what your budget is, what have you had in the past as far as audio, what you like in a speaker soundwise, etc. Go to some local stores and listen, because nobody can tell your ears what they like, let them decide for themselves.

i usually listen to hip hop so i like music with nice bass to it. subs are too much base though. and budget wise, something not too expensive. just trying to get a general idea in which way i should head with the speakers.

Thats no help at all man...come on, you gotta help us help you. "Not too expensive" is also very subjective, $700 Rainbows are cheap comparatively to Don who runs Dynaudio. A "general idea" which way to head....what do you want us to do with the information you have given, just start naming the hundreds of brands of speakers that are out there? I realize you say you are new to the audio thing, and sorry if I sound harsh, but you have given no information to let us help you make an educated decision.

there is a post about a gd on audio equipment in the gd forum. i have about 500-1000 that i can spend. i thought that if you get a new headunit that it will provide better quality sound and power or do i have to get an amp as well?

90% of that stuff that ImportCarParts is offering will be as useful to you as a **** flavored lollipop [/dodgeball quote], and I laugh when I read his list, thinking to myself how could anyone ever run equipment so sh!tty.
Most all component speakers will require an amp. I ran Type R components off an Alpine CDA-9815 once, and turning it up loud caused the tweeter to cut out, protecting itself from blowing. An amp is pretty much necessary with nice components.
Like I said before...have you had anything as far as audio before? Home or car? Listened to anything that you liked in a friends car? Drive around to local shops and listen...

interesting...their prices are not good, and i emailed them months ago about car audio and they said they will not be doing car audio. not calling them shady, but I'd Pm pearl96max over them anyday.
